TX-NR646 CEC switch to TV input not working after FW update

Hello,

I recently bought a TX-NR646 and upgraded to the latest firmware.

Now whenever I switch on the TV to use the internal tuner the receiver does not auto switch to the TV input. I only used it a short while on the original firmware but I am fairly sure this was not the behaviour before the upgrade.

If the receiver is used on another input (e.g Bluetooth or net streaming) and then the TV is later switched on the receiver powers up as expected but remains on the last used input giving either unexpected or no sound.

If the receiver input is manually switched to the TV input Arc and CEC control of volume with the TV remote work fine, but pressing the extra button should not be necessary.

This can't be how it is supposed to work? Isn't HDMI CEC supposed to remove the need to touch the receiver remote when turning on the TV in this scenario?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi bobthedog,

did you make an factory reset after the Firmware Update?

Please make this. But first switch the HDMI CEC Funktion to off in the HDMI Setup Menu. Disconnect the HDMI connection to your TV and make the factory reset.
1 While holding down CBL/SAT on the main unit (note that
step 2 must be performed with this button pressed down)
2 Press ON/STANDBY on the main unit ("Clear" appears on
the display and the unit returns to standby)

After this, make the following steps:

1. Switch Off the CEC / ARC function in the TV
2. Turn Off the HDMI CEC in AV Receiver
3. Disconnect the devices from the power
4. Unplug HDMI cable (Unplug all HDMI devices from TV and the receiver)
5. Plug the TV and plug in HDMI cable only between TV and receiver
6. Switch On TV and enable CEC/ARC and switch to television mode.
7. Plug in and switch On the AV Receiver
8. Open the Setup menu and navigate to HDMI CEC and switch it on (use the receiver display, keep the TV in television mode)
9. Once you switch on HDMI CEC leave the menu with the Return button

This will help.

Hi bobthedog, Hi FOX!

Can you confirm that a factory reset with these steps helped?

I didn't even know the receiver should auto switch to the TV input. So I have the same problem, but I'm hesitant to reset my receiver and re-enter all the settings.

Hi Matthy,

you can make the steps without an factory reset.

The other have make the firmware update, thats why they must make the factory reset first.

I also made several firmware updates since I've bought the TX-NR646. But I didn't use CEC until recently after I've replaced my old TV. So I think I also have to do the factory reset.
